Tintent 1 and Awning

We bought Tintent 1 from Mill Garage in Duns, Scottish Borders.  We had asked for just a few changes to their basic spec and in addition we asked for the front seats to be upholstered to match the back (something that is not included in the basic package).  So they fitted the fixed high top roof, made and fitted the interior cabinates and new rear seat.

Tintent - A little History

Where Did Tintent Come From?

I have always enjoyed camping.  I know it’s something I first did when I was very small.  In fact, the first memory I have of spending time on a camp site was a trip I took with my parents in a VW Camper they had borrowed.  I don’t know exactly how old I was but my sister was still in a cot so I can’t have been older than about 4 or 5.

There are no shortage of articles about Alton Towers on the internet. It is certainly one of Britains premier theme park resorts. Their website has a wealth of information about the park and how accessible their rides are but I got a little confused about the cost of entry for our family.

A Trial Trip

Background

We found our Red Van at Mill Garage in Duns, Scottish Borders.  They had our van on their forecourt in it’s original state; a WV T4 window van.  So far they had not done any work on her at all.

Whist discussing our ideas we noticed an offer to ‘Try Before You Buy’.  To us, this seemed like the sensible thing to do because, although we had already decided we were taking the van, the trial van was pretty much the same spec.  This gave us the opportunity to make a few changes.

We moved from a nearly sunny Staffordshire to a fairly dry but threatening rain Cumbria on Sunday. Park Coppice is another Caravan Club site this time situated on the banks of Coniston Water.

This site is huge, 285 pitches scattered around 20 acres of a 63 acre wood. All pitches are hardstanding but there is a seperate area for tents. The site has three toilet blocks, several playparks and a few motorhome service points.

The site slopes fairly gently towards Coniston Water. The road through the site is nice and smooth but the section between the site and the lake is gravel making it difficult…… Read the rest
