A few months ago I wrote an article about a Right Hand Clutch adaptation that might make it possible for me to drive a manual car instead of the automatic I’ve driven for the past 6 years.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against automatic cars.  In fact, I would really prefer to be driving an automatic, but the prices on the mobility scheme have gone through the roof, especially for the size and type of car that I would like to be driving.  So the article I read in the August edition of the Mobilise magazine opened up a much larger selection of cars to us.

Three months down the line, we have now taken delivery of our Spanking new Volvo V70 in Magic Blue.  We actually got the car on Monday but had to wait until yesterday before we could get the Right Hand Clutch fitted.

It’s been a day of stalling at junctions and sudden lurches in reverse (before stalling again), so it’s fair to say there is quite a change in driving style required.  But, so far it’s fun and looks like it’s going to be a fantastic set up for me.  Tomorrow I’m going to try and take some photo’s and get a bit of a review together.  This is not a system that will suit everyone but it will add choice and options that some people may not have realised they have.
